About Green Acres

Here at Green Acres, we grow many varieties of fruits and vegetables that we sell at our multiple produce markets and other esteemed farmers markets in north-central West Virginia. We work hard to make sure that our products are always top quality, farm-fresh, and delicious. Restaurants can also buy our products through Fish Hawk Acres.

Owners Pati and Lupe Espinosa have been farmers for over 20 years. They started Green Acres in 2010 on 15 acres of prime farmland in Rock Cave, WV, which is about 20 miles south of Buckhannon.

The business was launched when Chef Dale Hawkins from Fish Hawk Acres agreed to lease his farmland to Green Acres and to buy the produce for his catering business. Green Acres has since expanded to nearly 30 acres and has 15-20 employees.

Today, the farm has six high tunnels and two greenhouses for fresh vegetables and flowers all year long. Pati grows flowers from seed into glorious hanging baskets. The whole family takes part in the hard work, and enjoys the satisfaction of farming. It’s something Pati and Lupe also like to share with others. Green Acres hires teens to work in the summer months so they can learn about the value of hard work for a purpose.

And that value shows through at harvest time: Delicious, locally grown fruits and vegetables.
